Associate vs Professional level
Associate exams test fundamental knowledge of a module and are the standard target after a training course; they need no prior certification. Professional exams assume project experience and an Associate certification, and are taken by consultants with several years of implementations. For a first SAP job, Associate is what employers look for.
How SAP certification booking and pricing work
- Buy access: SAP sells certification through the SAP Certification Hub, an annual subscription that includes a set number of exam attempts. The price is set by SAP, is the same worldwide in US dollars, and changes from time to time; check training.sap.com/certification for the current figure.
- Schedule: exams are taken online with remote proctoring, so you can sit them from home in Hyderabad with a webcam and a quiet room.
- Format: typically 80 multiple-choice and multiple-response questions in 180 minutes; the cut score is published per exam (commonly in the 60–70% range).
- Stay current: S/4HANA certifications are tied to a release. SAP’s Stay Current programme asks certified people to take a short delta assessment when a new release arrives to keep the badge active.
